Yes, I bought a turbo for my Chevy Tahoe. After a complete engine rebuild and 4L80e transmission swap, I am ready to start building some serious power. I have to be honest, I’ve never done this before, so after scouring the internet for weeks, (might have been months), I decided to just follow Sloppy Mechanics recipe for a 5.3 turbo build to generate 550+ horsepower.
So, here’s the video of me unboxing the awesome kit from VS Racing
Hi. I’m Steve and this is my 2002 Tahoe and today is a very, very big day for the 2002 Tahoe. Let’s see what’s in these boxes. That’s an awfully big box for something this small, don’t you think? Maybe I should keep digging. First of all, this thing is packed incredibly well. What is this thing? Whatever can it be?
I don’t know.
What do you think that is Robbie?
I’m not sure.
This is a 7875 .96 AR turbo from VS Racing. I ordered it and they literally had it shipped the very next day and it got here in less than a week. It’s excellently packed and my experience with those guys is they are nothing short of amazing.
This is all the cold side parts, lots and lots of cold side parts go in here. Okay I found some boxes inside the boxes so let’s go ahead and start with this one.
It’s a blow-off valve. So, here it is the blow-off valve. Everything is amazingly packed; these guys are top-notch and here it would seem as though we have a 44mm wastegate with a couple of springs. There’s the wastegate, VS Racing get them a nice plug vsracing.net.
Again, wonderfully packed, super awesome. Remember how it went, it went like that.
This is the oiling system. All right here we go nice. Shipped very, very well.
The vans very nice.
A turbo keychain, it’s top notch. This just completes the package right here I mean it just doesn’t get any better than a turbo key chain.
Okay so what this is is this is the Denmah turbo kit that I found out about through Sloppy Mechanics. As a person who’s never done a turbo before I followed Sloppy’s advice to the tee and essentially, I got this kit.
This kit includes obviously the turbo, the blow-off valve, the wastegate, the intercooler all the cold side piping and what I’m missing still which is on the way is the hot side piping. I went with Trick Performance and I’ll leave links to all the stuff in the bottom in the description. I went with Trick performance they’ve got a really, really, really nice turbo header and then they’ve got crossover to go to the other side. At the point which that gets here I think the only thing I’ll be missing is the down pike stuff. So, props to both VS Racing and Trick Turbos I think and I bought the whole thing through the VS Racing but I talked on the phone with the guy from Trick his name is Ricky and he’s amazingly helpful as well. So, none of this stuff is sponsored by the way I’m just a big fan so far of the way I was treated by all these guys and I’m really, really looking forward to this build.
But unfortunately for me nothing is going to get done with the turbo before the 4L80 gets put in. So, the 4L80 is the first project. Obviously, I’ve already started but the transmission should be here within the next probably week or so. I’ve made some really good progress. The only thing that’s still in there is the 4L60 I’ll be pulling the 4l60 out I’ve subsequently got a video for all that going on.
Props to VS Racing and Trick Turbos and props to my videographer.
So, anyhow that’s that bye for now. I appreciate you watching. Lots and lots of videos to come please like, comment and subscribe and all that nonsense and I’ll see in the next video
